Papra is built for keeping receipts, warranties, contracts, scans, and other long-lived documents in a self-hosted archive. Beyond storing files, it can extract searchable text from images and scanned documents, then combine full-text search, filters, tags, and tagging rules to make retrieval practical later. Organizations can separate document spaces for a household or team, while email ingestion and folder ingestion provide repeatable ways to add new material. The current README documents Docker self-hosting, a CLI, API/SDK/webhooks, and external sharing with optional expiration and password protection. Document requests, mobile and desktop apps, a browser extension, and AI-assisted management are listed as future ideas rather than current features.
